Free grants are available for individuals if you can qualify by belonging to a certain group. There are many sources available for needs ranging from educational assistance to help with health care expenses. It may require a little research to find one that suits your particular circumstance but it can be well worth the effort. As an example, I have listed a few sources below:

Vietnam Era Veterans’ Educational Assistance is one example of free personal grants allocated by the government to an individual. Vietnam Era Verterans’ Education Assistance is a free personal grant extended to individuals or families through an agency of the U.S. government. The objective of this free personal grant is to provide educational assistances to persons who entered the Armed Forces after December 31, 1976 and before Juy 1, 1985. Another objective for this one of the free personal grants is to allow them to obtain education, promote voluntary military program in the U.S. by attracting qualified persons to the service.

To be eligible for this free personal grants program, applicant must serve honorably on active duty for more than 180 continuous days beginning on or after January 1, 1977. If you have been discharged after such date because of disability acquired in line of duty then you are qualified. Applicants who serve more than 180 days and completed first period of obligated service or 6 years of active duty whichever comes first are also eligible for free personal grants under this program. Satisfactory contribution of a monthly deduction of $25 to $100 from military pay from participants is also required to qualify for free personal grants. Lump sum contribution made before March 31, 1987 is allowed.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is another organization that provides free personal grants to patients in need. This free personal grants program is supported entirely by public contributions. There is also the American cancer society which offers free personal grants to persons afflicted with cancer. The free personal grants are extended to treatment-related travel expenses including transportation, medicine and medical supplies.

Free personal grants are also available for students who intend to pursue their college studies. Pell Grants is one of the free personal grants students can tap into to fund their advance studies. Several free personal grants could also be availed of in campus-based aid programs.

Pres. George Bush’s New Freedom Initiatives also give free personal grants to disabled persons. With the implementation and changes of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), 54 million Americans are now given the chance to receive free personal grants to improve their educational, employment and social opportunities.

The above-mentioned programs are just a few of the many free personal grants available today. These free personal grants could be backed by private or public funds. Usually established for a cause like scholarship or cancer-treatment, free personal grants are there to ease up your personal needs. For more information about free grants, you can do some research on the internet or go to your local library and look through their research section for a compilation of grant sources.

Did you know you may qualify for a free grant for school? It certainly doesn't hurt to try for one with the high cost of a college education. In fact, it happens almost automatically when you apply and are accepted into a college or university. It really depends on the FAFSA report which you must fill out to determine your eligibility. The FAFSA takes a look at your, or your parents tax returns for the previous year to determine if there is a need for a grant.

Free grants for school are available for students who want to avail of further education but don’t have the financial means to do so. Free grants for school are federal funds given to schools and distributed to students upon the school’s discretion.

A number of schools and educational programs are allowed to spend federal student free grants for school. Large universities, small liberal arts colleges, community colleges, career and technical schools, trade schools, and certificate programs both degree and non-degree are all qualified recipients of federal student financial aid.

Every year, The U.S. Department gives more than $67 billion worth of free grants for school in the form of loans, grants and campus-based aid to be able to help millions of students and their families pay for tertiary education.

The Federal Pell Grants is one of the free grants for school program that a student can avail of. Pell Grants do not require the grantees to pay it back. The basic eligibility requirement to avail of free grants for school is according to the financial need of the student. The maximum amount one can avail of in Pell Grants is set by congress yearly. Costs needed to attend school, student’s full or part-time status and the student’s plan to pursue a full academic year or less- all these will determine the amount of Pell Grants’ free grants for school one can avail of. Pell Grants’ free grants for school are released directly by the school to the students once in each semester, trimester or quarter.

Free grants for school could also come in the form of campus-based aid programs. The known affiliates under this free grants fro school program are Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Federal Perkins Loan programs. Campus-based aid are free grants for school program that are controlled by the financial aid office themselves at each participating schools. The federal free grants for school funds are handed to the schools. The schools then distribute these free grants for school to the students depending on their financial need, the amount they receive from other free grants for school and the total free grants for school funds available.

Free grants for school have some eligibility requirements before it can be released to the students. These requirements are:

1. Must be citizen or eligible noncitizen of the United States with a valid Social Security Number;

2. Must have a high school diploma or a General Education Development (GED) certificate or pass an approved "ability to benefit" test by the U.S. Department of Education;

3. Enroll in an eligible program as a regular student seeking a degree or certificate;

4. Register (or have registered) for Selective for male students between the ages of 18-25; and

5. Have a result of Eligible or Partially Eligible on the Drug Conviction question.

The federal law stipulates that persons convicted for sale or possession of drugs are not eligible for federal student aid. But there are other free grants for school options, so if you commit these offenses you can still register with Free Application for Federal Student Aid to avail of nonfederal aids.

FAFSA then sends your details to the colleges and universities you are accepted to and they will automatically prepare a financial aid package for you which may contain loans, scholarships, and free grants.
